Crazy Day

Today was CRAZY! Makenzie had OT, PT, and ST all before 10:30am! We then packedin the car and headed to Children’s Hospital to have some blood drawn for a lab that Kenzie’s new doctor in AZ ordered! She had to fast for this test so I turned her pump off at 3am. We got the blood drawn and got home at about 2pm. I then went to put her to bed and tried to move her to the other side of the bed not knowing that my knee was on the tubing! Well I ended up pulling the valve completly out of her button! SO....... back to Children’s Hospital I went, stomache acid everywhere! It was great!!!! Got that all fixed up and back home we trucked!

Over all it was a good crazy day! Makenzie did well in therapy and tollerated being poked and proaded very well! Tomorrow we go to see a new DAN doctor! Please pray that he will be ab;e to provide the services that were recommended by Kenzie’s new Doctor in AZ! We sure can’t get on a plane to AZ every week! Keep praying! We so value all of your thoughts and prayers!

Yea God!

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Well, today was another great day! Makenzie laid on the floor today in PT on her tummy with her head all the way up look aroud and supporting herslf with her elbows! She also sat up unassisted 3 times today for a few seconds! This is the first time she has done that since Adam’s Camp! God is so good! I am just in awe of how powerfull His healing is!

We went to the school tonight for a Multi Cultural Fair. It was a lot of fun. The kids all got their faces painted and were sooo cute! Please keep praying for Makenzie! She is doing so well!

"Our present troubles are quite small and won’t last very long. Yet they produce for us an immeasurably great glory that will last forever!" (2 Corinthians 4:17)

Dear Lord,
There are times when the troubles we face seem overwhelming and when the future seems to hold no hope. Thank you for this reminder in 2 Corinthians 4:17 that what we are facing in this day is quite small and won’t last very long compared to the immeasurably great glory that will last forever. Thank you that you have made a way for every member of this family to tap into your everlasting glory. Thank you that your love transcends our present struggles and will carry us through. And thank you, Lord, that because of Jesus we are able to tap into that everlasting love and glory even today. Lord, I ask that each of us in this family would experience a touch of your glory today, and find a new sense of perspective and hope in the immeasurable glory to come!
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen.
This is a prayer that was emailed to me today in my daily prayer from Child of destany. To God be the Glory! He has given us so much!

Video Of Makenzie Reaching

Today was a great day! One year ago I was watching my little girl breath with the help of a tube, completely still and unresponsive! Today she is smiling, laughing, rolling, and starting to reach for things! She has come so far! I know I already posted today but she had such a great day I had to post again! She took a 3 hour nap today which was great! Makenzie is to the point now where she is tolerating a schedule! This is huge to me. We have made it past the infant sleep habits and into toddler style! She has been doing great with this!

We also went to the doctor this morning to check the strep amd make sure it was still gone..... it was! We also weighed her and she is up to 23 lbs!

Today in therapy she did GREAT! We are seeing so many wonderful results from our trip to Phoenix! She was reaching for a toy, rolling with her head off the ground and she let her OT in her mouth for some really good stretches! She is soooooo much looser and it really shows! Thank You Jesus! To God be the glory!

Thank You all for the thoughts and prayers this year! Keep praying!

One Year Ago Today

One year ago I took for granted everything in my life! Most of us do. I had a husband,4 beatiful children, a house, a great school district, 2 cars, and so much more... too much to list. I would have classified it as "white pickit". I never looked back and I watched the milestones that my kids made with a smile but never a second thought. Little did I know how wonderful something so simple as a smile or the ability to sit up was!

March 25th, 2007 changed all of that for me! Over the last year there has been much pain and sorrow but also a ton of joy and hope! It has brought me closer to my God, kids, family, friends, and community. Its has showed me glimpses of what life is really about. What truley matters! Everyday life gets a little easier. God has been so gracious to this family. Thank You Jesus for all of the progress that Makenzie has made. Thank You for old and new friends! Thank You for always being there for us in this storm! Thank You for putting the right people in the right place at the right time! Thank You for Discount Tire and all of the people in this nation that have prayed for Makenzie and helped relive some of our finacial burden! Thank You Thank You Thank You!

As I look toward the new year ahead of us I am excited! I am tired in so many ways but I will not give up! The sin in the world will not defeat me! God will overcome! What His plan is I don’t know. I have begun to learn that His timing is always perfect! That is not to say this still isn’t hard because it is! There is so much more that we haven’t tried. We have God and time on our side! We have tons of people that love and support us. It is going to be a GREAT year!

Some of my goals for this next year are lots more bio medical treatments! Unfortantly this means money!

We just did SIRRI with great success! She is rolling numerous times in a row. She will lay on the floor with out being held and kick and move her arms for up to 30 min! She is holding on to toys and not letting go even with movement. I am hearing a lot more different sounds and we haven’t really even begun to process most of this new input!

I would like to do suit therapy in Florida for 3 weeks.

We are still trying to buy our own HBOT Chamber.

I want to try stem cells.

Last but not least I want to continue with the DAN Doctor! We did an IV push of a strong antioxitent on Friday befor we left Pheonix and it improved her tone ALOT!!!! Even the Peds doctor could tell!

Most of all for this year I would like to ask that you all keep Makenzie in your prayers! God is the Mighty Healer and if he wants to use our earthly treatments to show his Glory then he will open doors to us! Please pray for our Princess! Prayer works! Believe! Healing and Restoration for Makenzie is happening right now!

We're Home

Photobucket

It was a great two weeks! I am exhasted! I have really come to love Arizona. I feel as though at some point in my life I have lived there. I have only ever lived in one state but find it very entertaining that I can get in a car in Phoenix and get to just about anywhere with out any problem! I have met so many wonderful people there and feel very at home.

We got there on Sunday morning. It must have been quite a sight! Feeding pump, diaper bag, laptop, car seat, oh and don’t forget Makenzie! I’m not quite sure how I did it but I made from the gate to the baggage claim in record time! My good friend Michelle came to pick us up and we all headed back to the Ronald Macdonald House.

When we left home Makenzie wasn’t feeling great so I gave her so medicine before we left and she seemed to be ok. We headed to SIRRI on Monday morning after a very long night of snot, coughing, vomit, and some very tense moments due to the body fluids in Makenzie’s upper airway. We made it through one and a half treatments and Makenzie couldn’t take any more! I called her doctor and he asked us to go and be seen. We found a Ped’s office in South Phoenix and took her there on Monday night around 7 pm. They were very quick. They took her vitals and some cultures and we were out the door with a script for the Flu and Strep by 8 pm! Needless to say Makenzie and I took Tuesday off from SIRRI and she slept almost ALL day!

By Wednsday she was feeling much better and so we continued our treatment at SIRRI. Though out the 12 days of treatment we had 2 sensory appointments a day and fit in 3 OT appointments a week. We also managed to have some fun in between! We went to the park, the Rainforest Cafe, the Mall, a spring training game with the Angels and the Cubs, and visited with a few friends we have met along the way!

Last Friday we went to see a very renowned Doctor in Phoenix and consulted with her for about 2 hours! I was talking to her on Thursday during Michelle’s appointment and she agreed to see us the next day! Mechelle was very suprised that she got us in! Her next new patient consult was not until JUNE! I will go more into what we are going to do with this new doctor as it starts to unfold but I am very excited about some of the stuff she had to say! We drew some blood and she sent us home with a few more labs to complete and we will follow up with her over the phone in about 3 weeks!

Treatment at SIRRI ended on Friday afternoon and we saw some great stuff. Makenzie was much calmer and played on the floor by herself for much longer periods of time! She did a LOT of rolling and talking! SIRRI is also one of thoughs treatments that take some time for the brain to process. We should see results of this treatment for the next 3-6 months!

I have so much to say but have to get going. I will try to continue to post more details over the next few days as it all comes back to me! 14 days is a lot to put in one post! Please keep praying for Makenzie! She has come so far! Prayer Works! BELIEVE!

Quick Update

Hey! Sorry it has been so long! We are in Arizona! Everything is going great! We had a bit of a rough start however. Makenzie was sick when we left and on Monday night we took her in to the doctor and found out thatr she had both strp and the flu!!!! We got her on an antibiotic and tamaflu and she is feeling much better! She is tolerating SIRRI great and is getting so much more of the treatment then she did last summer! I have so much to share but I have a very impatient little girl on my lap! I will try to post again soon but we will be back home on the 23rd if I don’t get a chance. The only computer I have to use is a very slow desk top in the office at the Ronald Mcdonald House. No Wi-Fi here! OH WELL!! Pleaser keep praying for Makenzie and her continued healing and full rstoration!

Arizona Here We Come

Well it is now almost midnight and we will be leaving for Arizona at 7 am (Well 6 am..... Thanks Time change!) Makenzie has a horrible cough! She hardly took a nap this afternoon and I have put her to bed like 8 times already tonight! Right now she is wide awake in her highchair waiting for me to get the diaper bag packed and some Motrin! Pray for some sleep tonight and a good flight in the morning! Pray for the boys to be well cared for and to be safe! That is all for tonight... I'm going to try to go get some sleep!

GI Appointment

Photobucket

We went to see the GI doctor yesterday. I really like him a lot. We dicussed the hospital stay and talked about where to go from here. He agreed with me that the J tube should have been done a long time ago! He also said that there were "too many cooks in the kitchen" when I came to Makenzie's gut issues and that it was about time that someone listened to me!!! Sooo he said that since she was tolerating the formula that she is on right now that he wanted to leave that alone untill we get her at a stable weight. According to "HER" growth chart should be somewhere around 10.5 kg. He agreed that she didn't need to reach what all of the previous Doctors had established as her "ideal weight". She is a tiny little girl and always has been! She has never been on the charts, let alone in the 25th -50th percentile! We are going to follow up with him and the GI dietitians in a month. When they weighed her she was up to 9.7kg! GOOOOO Makenzie!

We are less than 48 hours away from leaving for Arizona! Please keep praying for safe travel and healing! SIRRI did wonders for her last summer! Pray that this treatment will bring her to the next level in the healing of her sensory system! Thank You to everyone for your continued thoughts and prayers! Keep BELIEVING..... PRAYER WORKS!

McDonalds Night

Taday was another good day! Makenzies did really good in Therapy today! She had PT, OT and speech twice! She was all smiles and willing to work hard! In PT her therapist showed me a bunch of simple things for me to do with Makenzie while we are gone! She played peek-a-boo with her PT and Speech therapist. IT was so cute! They took a blanket and put it over her lights and sounds mirror. She was having so much fun looking at herself! Yep, she is a girl! They turned it to a little bit different angel and when they started to help her push the blanket off she leaned over with her head sideways and the cutest little look on her face! They weren't moving the blanket fast enough and she found a way to see!!! She has had REALLY good head control lately as well!

On Sunday after Church we went to McDonald's. There is a very wonderful lady that works there who always talks to the kids! She is so friendly and we always look forward to going to that McDonald's to see her! She came and sat down with us for a little bit on Sun and I gave her one of Kenzie's cards and shared with her a bit more of her story.

She then so generously offered to talk to her GM about doing a McDonalds night for Makenzie! We had a bunch of errands to run tonight after therapy so I quick stopped through the drive thru and evern in the car she recognized us! She asked me to come in tomorrow to talk with her about do a Makenzie's Miracle McDonalds night!!!! I am so excited! It is so wonderful to know that a huge company like that cares! It is so nice to know that one single person cared enough to try and help a total stranger! I feel so blessed! SO......... Watch for that night and come out to support Makenzie! The more time goes on the more it has become apparent that this journey is not near over! Every piece of equipmnet and therapy is very expensive!!! It seems like everything that has the word 'therapy" in it is overpriced by 10 fold!

Keep praying for Makenzie! Pray for her healing! God's Grace continues to get us through!

Miracle Flights

WE GOT OUR FLIGHT! We will be leaving for Arizona on Sunday morning! Thank You Jesus!!!!!!

We met with Makenzie's DP worker this morning. She brought along one of her co workers. She is being promoted in March and will no longer be working with Makenzie. She has been so wonderful to us over the last 10 months! She has gone over and above her job discription to help Makenzie! She will be very missed! She however will be at Makenzie's transition meeting for Child Find to discuss preschool and has found us a really great replacement! Kenzie could start preschool in Aug 2008. Depending on the programs Cherry Creek has to offer will decide if she will be attending.

Makenzie has been rolling, smiling, laughing, making eye contact, sleeping very well, babbling, and even reaching a bit with her hands! Keep praying For Makenzie! Again Pray for safe travels and healing in Arizona!

Me and My Bumbo Chair

Me and my Bumbo chair

Makenzie is doing so well! She has been holding up her head so much better! The GJ tube continues to work very well! Her weight still seems to be fluxuating yesterday I got a weight of 20.2 lbs and today 19.4 lbs! I don't get it! She is getting her full feeds though and seems to be tolerating it well. The calorie supplement that the hospital recommened is on back order with Option 1. Oh well out of my hands! She has also been making eye contact a ton! It is so much fun to see her smile, looking you in the eyes and know that she is in there! She has also become ticklish! That is so much fun! She just giggles and giggles!

We will be standing in Arizona at this time next week! I am so excited to see all of the friends that I made there last summer! Please pray that everything goes smoothly! Pray that the boys are well cared for, that Makenzie adjusts to a new enviornment, that I will get a free flight from Miracle Flights ( with everything that went on in the last 2 weeks I wasn't able to get my paperwork in to them until Friday), and that we will have a good lodging experience! One of my good friends offered us her home! I am excited about that! I don't want to to overwhelm her and her family though.... 2 weeks is a long time! God will sort it all out! I just can't wait to see every one and be able to do another round of SIRRI! It seemed to help so much the first time! Keep praying for Makenzie! She is growing up so fast!

I am healing more evey day!

SOOOOO BIG!!!

SOOOOO BIG!!!
Here is Makenzie in her new Gait Trainer! She really likes it! We are trying this one out to make sure that it is the right style for her. It is a $3,000-$4,000 peice of equipment!

We are doing well! Makenzie took a 4 hour nap today! She has been so happy to be home! That will be short lived as we will be leaving for Arizona next Sunday! We will be there for 14 days to do SIRRI! Please pray for a smooth trip and that Makenzie will adjust to her new environment quickly!

So Big!!!

I love my new gait trainer!

To My Child

To My Child
I found this poem on another site and thought it was agreat reminder of all of the things in life we take for granted and all we have to be thankful for!

"To My Child"

To My Child...

Just for this morning, I am going to smile when I see your face and laugh when I feel like crying.

Just for this morning, I will let you wake up softly, all rumpled in your sheets and I will hold you until you are ready for the day.

Just for this morning, I will let you choose what you want to wear and smile at how perfect it is.

Just for this morning, I am going to step over the laundry and pick you up and take you to the park and play.

Just for this morning ,I will leave the dishes in the sink and let you teach me how to put that puzzle of yours together.

Just for this afternoon, I will unplug the telephone and keep the computer off and sit with you in the back yard and blow bubbles.

Just for this afternoon, I will not yell once, not even a tiny grumble when you scream and whine for the Ice-cream Truck, and I will buy you one if he comes by.

Just for this afternoon, I won't worry about what you are going to be when you grow up, or second guess every decision I have made where you are concerned.

Just for this afternoon, I will let you help me bake cookies, and I won't stand over you trying to fix them.

Just for this afternoon, I will take you to McDonald's and buy us both a Happy Meal so you can have both toys.

Just for this evening, I will let you stay up late while we sit on the porch and count all the stars.

Just for this evening, I will snuggle besides you for hours, and miss my favorite T.V. show.

Just for this evening, when I run my fingers through your hair as you pray. I will simply be grateful that God has given me the greatest gift ever given. I will think about mothers who are searching for their missing children, the mothers who are visiting their children's graves instead of their bedrooms and mothers who are in the hospital rooms watching their children suffer senselessly, and scream inside that they can't handle it anymore, and when I kiss you goodnight, I will hold you a little tighter, a little longer.

It is then I will thank God for you and ask him for nothing,

EXCEPT ONE MORE DAY!!
